Regarding Dragon Ball, there is an extremely rare TV special that is part of the Dragon Ball Z anime. Unfortunately, the episode was shown only once – but according to ratings, you didn’t miss much.
What kind of episode is it? The episode aired on August 3, 1992, about a month after the release of Dragon Ball Z – The Movie: Attack of the Cyborgs, which is set between episodes 150 and 151.
The setting of the special is the same as from the movie, taking place shortly after the end of the cyborg film. However, Son-Goku and his son Son-Gohan are wandering the streets of the city. They are wearing completely white suits.
The two Saiyans talk about the first 3 Dragon Ball movies and the first 7 Dragon Ball Z movies. In the end, they want to get rid of the suits, and Son-Goku materializes all his strength to burst out of the tuxedo.
His son tries to do the same, but he fails in this action. Goku encourages him that he will eventually be able to do it too.
Rare Special Only in Japan
Why can’t it be seen anywhere? The episode was aired only once, and that was in Japan. There is no release on DVD, and it has never been translated into English or even German.
The only reference to this special can be found in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. In the Extra Pack 2 DLC, you can unlock a suit that looks exactly like the one in the special. However, in the video game itself, you can still color it.
Did I miss something? The special was intended as promotional material for the movie. Accordingly, there isn’t much plot to justify catching up on the special in any way. This is confirmed by the rating on IMDb, where 166 viewers rated the special only 5.7 out of 10 stars.
