In the new survival game Sons of the Forest (Steam), you have to fight for your survival and be able to fend off enemies. One weapon is particularly useful, as you get it early on and it is extremely effective.
What kind of weapon is it? The “Crafted Club” is one of the weapons in Sons of the Forest. The club consists of a human skull, which you attach to a stick.
Unlike most weapons that you can find early in the game, the club has two significant advantages:
- with the club, you can block enemy attacks; it has a high defense value
- you block with a right-click
- a charged strike can knock enemies down instantly and render them helpless for a short time
- you perform charged strikes by holding down the left mouse button
With the club, we have even been able to reliably defeat more dangerous opponents in caves. And it is quick and easy to obtain.
Remember that Sons of the Forest has friendly fire. You can play the survival game with up to 8 players in co-op, but all your attacks will hit other players and NPC companions. Be careful when swinging the club.
This is how you craft the club: To build the club, you need just a stick, a rope, and a skull. Place the items by right-clicking in your inventory (key “I”) and then combine them.
You can easily find sticks on the ground, but you can also have Kelvin fetch them for you. You should find at least one rope at the crash site; otherwise, look for abandoned camps with tents on the island.
Skulls are the hardest to find. They are also scattered across the island, sometimes at campsites, but most often in caves, if you dare to enter them. Alternatively, you can burn heads at the campfire – though we advise against that for now. You can craft the weapon anywhere, allowing you to make it even temporarily in a cave.

Even though the club helps you survive, you should remember not to attack enemies if possible. Most creatures in Sons of the Forest are initially non-aggressive but rather curious. As long as you are not attacked, you have no reason to kill. You can find more survival tips here:
