About a year ago, the Anime of The Pharmacist’s Diaries had its premiere. A new trailer now shows that exciting criminal cases are waiting for you in Season 2.
What can be seen in the trailer? The trailer initially shows a cheerful atmosphere. A palace employee is looking forward to the upcoming caravan, a cute cat has been adopted, and Lingli, the daughter of the emperor and Gyokuyou, has grown older.
In the video description of the trailer on YouTube, it states what will happen in Season 2:
When a popular concubine becomes pregnant, Maomao is tested as a food taster. She must sharpen her wits, not only to protect the concubine but also against the growing dangers in the palace. A new concubine with powerful connections, an unresolved assassination attempt on Jinshi, and a foreign envoy with impossible demands indicate a grand conspiracy that threatens to engulf the empire.
However, there are also things that will not change in Season 2. Maomao must again solve mysterious cases where she comes from initial clues to the perpetrator. Her knowledge of poisons as a pharmacist comes in handy. Familiar characters like the handsome Jinshi or her friend Xiaolan also return.

When does Season 2 start? At the end of the trailer, it is revealed when Season 2 will be available. The very first episode of Season 2 starts in Japan on January 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM Central European Time. Like Season 1, Season 2 will be available on Crunchyroll.
When exactly the episodes will be aired on the streaming service is still unknown. Season 2 is expected to span over 2 Cours, which is over half a year. Presumably, the new episodes will be aired weekly again.
How good is the anime? On MyAnimeList, the series is rated 8.88/10 and is thus ranked 24th among the best animes. On IMDb, The Pharmacist’s Diaries also achieves an above-average 8.6/10.
What kind of anime is this? Maomao is a young girl who earns her living as a pharmacist in the red-light district. One day, she is kidnapped by human traffickers who sell her as a slave to the imperial court. She tries to maintain a quiet daily life and not attract attention.
However, by solving a tricky case, she is promoted to maid. Her actions do not go unnoticed, as a beautiful eunuch takes a liking to the young pharmacist.
