In April 2025, a new anime movie will be released, in which a singer remains unnoticed by humanity. Nevertheless, she fills entire concert halls in real life.
Which singer is it about? The new anime film revolves around Hatsune Miku. She is a virtual character that represents the face of a voice of a software synthesizer. The artificial voice is used for many projects and is primarily designed for J-Pop titles.
Over time, the computer voice has developed its own personality. From the voice emerged the anime character with her iconic turquoise braids that you know today. Beyond the program, its own merchandise and video games have been developed. Hatsune Miku is now so popular and well-known that she fills concert halls – even in Germany (via Mitsubishi Electric Hall).
A movie is now also part of the Hatsune Miku franchise. In her new film, we experience her from a completely new side.
Hatsune Miku is suddenly unpopular and cannot sing
What is the film about? The new film Colorful Stage! the Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing is about a version of Miku who actually cannot sing and is not heard by people.
- The teenager Ichika Hoshino is also a musician and hears a song by Hatsune Miku that she has never heard before in a record store in Shibuya.
- She encounters an unknown version of Miku. She has trouble reaching people with her music.
- Hoshino and Miku team up to touch people’s hearts with Miku’s music.
The film is based on a mobile game called Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!, which came to Germany in 2021.
The Japanese were able to see the film already in January 2025. Therefore, there are already some ratings on IMDb, which rates the film at only 6.4 stars. Since the rating is based on just 161 people, it remains to be seen how good the film really is when it is released.
