While many players are waiting for the holy grail among the upcoming next-gen MMORPGs, an existing MMORPG is making headlines. More specifically, it is Black Desert Online by Pearl Abyss. With its content update, the tourism board of South Korea was prompted to design a new tourism guide based on the aforementioned MMORPG.
What kind of game is this? Black Desert Online is one of the most beautiful MMORPGs from the Far East. It is an open-world title characterized by sieges and conquest wars, but also features a sophisticated life skill system. However, there is a comparatively high amount of grinding, an almost open PvP system, and a shop with a Pay2Progress label.

Originally released at the end of 2014 in South Korea, the MMORPG then celebrated its release in Europe in 2016. At that time, it was published by Kakao Games, which is currently facing some accusations from NCSoft.
Since then, the game from Pearl Abyss has received several graphic updates, such as the remastered version. Although some critics continue to believe that individual objects load too late, the MMORPG is still impressive to this day, not least because of the character editor.
So much so that the national tourism organization used the latest content update of Black Desert Online as an opportunity to promote Korea.

What kind of advertisement is this? This is a music video recently posted on YouTube by the “Korea Tourism Organization” (KTO).
In detail, it features a musically accompanied journey to all the places and attractions that inspired the new region in the game, the “Land of the Morning Light” (via massivelyop.com).
What is Land of the Morning Light? This refers to the new content update that already exists in the Korean version of Black Desert Online and will be released for us in June 2023.
The new area is set in the Hazo continent and is said to be about the same size as the Kamasylvia region (via blackdesertfoundry.com).
Whether the partnership with the tourism organization ultimately bears fruit for both sides remains to be seen. In any case, it seems to be a welcome opportunity for both sides to introduce both areas more closely.
