On the set of the action and sci-fi hit “Demolition Man“ a female actress apparently had such a bad time with her colleague Sylvester Stallone that she was replaced after just a few days.
Demolition Man is a sci-fi thriller from 1993 directed by Marco Brambilla. Action hero and Schwarzenegger rival Sylvester Stallone plays the thawed cop John Spartan, who must stop the gangster Simon Pheonix, played by Wesley Snipes.
Sandra Bullock stars as Lenina Huxley in the film. However, a different actress was originally cast for the role.

„They were like oil and water“
Originally, Lori Petty was supposed to take on the role of Lenina Huxley. She is known from films like A League of Their Own (1992), Tank Girl (1995) or from the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black (2013-2019).
However, after just three days on set, Lori Petty was fired. According to Entertainment Weekly, a member of the production stated: “Warner Bros. was not very satisfied with her first scenes. They thought they could do better with someone else.”
This left the dismissal of the actress rather framed as a creative decision of the production.
However, the actress herself saw the reason for this in the poor collaboration with her co-star Sylvester Stallone, with whom she apparently could not get along at all: “Sly [Stallone] and I were like oil and water,” she described her relationship with the action star (via Entertainment Weekly).

As a new cast for the role, Sandra Bullock was cast, who was still relatively unknown in Hollywood at that time.
Demolition Man ultimately became an important film in Sandra Bullock’s career. After smaller roles, such as in the film Hangmen (1987), the sci-fi blockbuster was her first major Hollywood job that increased her fame.
The following year, she then had her big breakthrough with the action thriller Speed (1994), alongside co-star Keanu Reeves.
