Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa (30) is a master at creatively interpreting the rules of Twitch and staying just within the allowed limits. However, it now seems she may have gone too far, as she received two suspensions.
What are these bans? Amouranth has quite a bit of experience with temporary suspensions from Twitch. In the past, she skillfully circumvented the bans by expertly balancing on the edge of what was allowed – or she profited from it.
However, the current series of bans is also unusual for the scandal-tested streamer: Amouranth’s Twitch channel was banned on March 30, unbanned on March 31, and is now banned again since April 2.
The reasons for the bans are currently unknown. On Twitch, it is only stated that the channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of community guidelines or terms of service – it seems to be another temporary ban.
It is likely that the bans are related to Twitch’s recent rule changes regarding explicit content. The automated X account StreamerBans tracks a series of similar bans and unbans of female streamers.
Amouranth takes it easy
How did Amouranth react to the ban? Quite calmly. The streamer has had a non-exclusive contract with the competing platform Kick since 2023. She was live on air when she learned of the ban.
Amouranth was getting her nails done in a salon when she was alerted about the ban. However, she only slightly grimaced and looked at her phone. “Weird,” the streamer commented on the ban. “This is so strange.”
How is this being discussed? On X, formerly Twitter, many users are demanding that Twitch permanently ban the streamer. For Amouranth, this marks the 9th and 10th ban – other content creators, they say, would not be given so many chances.
Many also react mockingly, claiming that the ban will be lifted anyway, that Twitch would never permanently ban its “golden goose”.
Even though the imposed bans seem to be only temporary so far, it does appear that Twitch is currently eager to enforce its guidelines more strictly. The recent rule changes are a result of an “arms race” for the most creative interpretation of the guidelines that content creators have been engaged in with the platform for years.
