AMD currently sells significantly more processors than Intel on Amazon. This is shown by recent samples. However, the best-selling CPUs are surprising, as they are mainly older models that are selling very well. AMD’s best processor does not rank in the Top 10 in Germany.
What numbers are these? Amazon maintains so-called bestseller lists in various categories, where you can see which products are currently selling particularly well. The data is constantly updated. As Amazon is one of the largest retailers, the data serves as a general sample.
What does the current top list on Amazon look like? Since Amazon regularly updates its best-selling products, we can only consider a snapshot. At this point in time (November 22, at 10:15 AM), the bestseller list looks as follows – and it’s immediately clear that AMD dominates the sales numbers:

What stands out? Among the 10 best-selling processors in Germany, there are 7 Ryzen processors from AMD and only 3 from Intel. The difference is even more pronounced when looking at Amazon.com: Here, there is only 1 Intel CPU in the top ten; the next Intel CPU appears at position 14. Especially Older Processors Are Sold on Amazon, Only One CPU Comes from 2024
What surprises? In the top ten on Amazon.de, there are almost exclusively older CPU models from recent years, specifically for the AM4 socket. You can read about the differences between AM4 and AM5 on MeinMMO.
What is the best-selling CPU? The best-selling CPU is currently the Ryzen 7 5800X – a CPU from 2020. So it is a relatively old model. The currently best CPU from AMD, the Ryzen 7 7800x3D, does not appear on Amazon.de, but it is ranked 4th in the USA. The Ryzen 7 7800x3D is almost constantly sold out on Amazon.de.
Are there exceptions? Yes, two processors stand out a bit from the top 10:
- The Ryzen 7 5700x3D in 3rd place was released in 2024 and is one of the last additions for the old AM4 socket, but it impresses with its price and performance. It primarily competes with its bigger brother, the Ryzen 7 5800x3D, which is hardly available for purchase anymore.
- The second exception is the Ryzen 9 7900X, as it is the only CPU among the top ten sold for the newer AM5 socket.
How does it look in the USA? It is also interesting that things look different in the USA: Here, there are at least 4 processors for the newer socket in the top 10, including the popular Ryzen 7 7800x3D.
AMD Also Leads the Best-Selling Products at Mindfactory
What does it look like outside of Amazon? On other platforms as well, AMD is primarily sold: In a sample from Mindfactory, for example, 6 processors are among the 10 best-selling products, all of which come from AMD. Interestingly, 5 of the 6 processors are X3D processors, and the best-selling processor is the brand new Ryzen 7 9800x3D.
Is Nvidia coming soon? Anyone looking to buy a processor for their computer or gaming PC cannot avoid AMD or Intel. There seems to be hardly any noteworthy competition, at least in the USA and Europe. However, Nvidia seems to be showing great interest in entering the processor market as well: As if Intel does not have enough problems, Nvidia may be about to enter the PC processor market
