Amazon’s new shooter Crucible will feature 10 unique heroes at launch. To get you ready for what’s coming, the developers have already introduced 4 of the 10 characters and their skills in the video.
What is Crucible? Crucible is the title of Amazon’s brand new hero shooter. The shipping giant aims to establish itself permanently in the gaming market and wants to excite shooter fans alongside RPG fans with the open-world MMORPG New World.
In Crucible, you fight as one of 10 quirky heroes with your own weapons and skills against each other, but also against the environment. There are gameplay modes where you hunt down nasty aliens for resources and defend against your fellow players.
Crucible releases on May 20. So you already know which heroes exist, the developers have introduced 4 of them.
The first 4 heroes of Crucible
Which heroes are there? So far, the following four heroes have been introduced:
- Earl, a big, cozy guy who fights with a heavy cannon
- Ajonah, a fishy sharpshooter
- Captain Mendoza, a rather boring generic soldier type
- Bugg, a cute little robot who loves plants
More heroes will likely be introduced gradually leading up to the release by Amazon. Here we at MeinMMO have presented the known characters in detail so far.
Earl, the Space Trucker
This is Earl: Earl is a kind-hearted, big guy. The alien in overalls and a cap is actually a kind of space trucker. But when trouble arises, he pulls out his big quad cannon named “Misty.” According to the video, it was named after his wife, a really sweet person.
These are the skills: Earl is a kind of tank who can also deal decent damage. His skills are:
- Earl can fire a particularly strong, explosive salvo from his weapon
- He can also block and knock back projectiles and enemies
- With a rocket boost on the weapon, Earl can zip around quickly
- When he is injured, he can chug a can of beer to heal himself
Play Earl if you like:
- playing a tank who can take a lot of damage and heal himself
- shooting with big weapons
- the cheerful space trucker vibe and enjoyed playing Montana in Battleborn
Ajonah, the Slippery Sharpshooter
This is Ajonah: She is a mysterious and deadly raider from an aquatic world. Therefore, Ajonah is also a fish creature with fins. However, she seems to feel just as comfortable on land. In battle, she relies on precise and deadly shots from her harpoon.
These are the skills: Ajonah is clearly a sniper, and these are her abilities:
- She can aim exceptionally well and hit distant enemies precisely
- Ajonah can quickly navigate terrain using a grappling hook and reach remote locations
- As another skill, she can deploy flying mines and injure and hinder enemies
- She can also create a protective dome that shields her and her team
Play Ajonah if you like:
- fighting from a distance
- found the gameplay of Widowmaker in Overwatch cool
- like to protect your team while sniping
Captain Mendoza, the Tough Soldier
This is Captain Mendoza: Captain Mendoza is from the “Unity,” a military organization. He was practically in service forever and was even demoted once for punching a superior. He is the typical soldier type who shoots with a pulse rifle (there are many of them, but this one belongs to him) and appeals to all players who enjoy straightforward shooter action.
These are the skills: Mendoza is an all-rounder. His skills are:
- Mendoza is always where he is needed because he can sprint quickly
- You can target and shoot accurately as Mendoza
- He can build cover anywhere and heal himself with a medkit
- He can also throw flashbangs
Play Mendoza if you like:
- prefer straightforward soldier types like Soldier 76 (Overwatch), Oscar Mike (Battleborn), or Viktor (Paladins)
- play tactically
- appreciate self-healing
Bugg, the Lovable Bot
This is Bugg: He is a botanical robot used for terraforming. He is super cute and friendly. Also, he has perhaps the cutest weapon in the game: a spray bottle filled with fertilizer. With it, he can deal some damage, but mainly cultivate nasty killer plants.
These are the skills: Bugg is mainly a supporter with little firepower. His skills are:
- Bugg can make long jumps with his thrusters
- He can plant seeds and spray them with fertilizer to grow. The fully grown plants are then a type of mine and defense tower in one. Particularly nasty is that you can’t always see them right away in the colorful botany of the maps.
- He can release poisonous gases to deal AoE damage
- Bugg can also give shields to himself and all allies in the area (including plants)
Play Bugg if you like:
- embodying a useful supporter.
- want to hide nasty traps with killer plants
- want to represent one of the cutest characters in the game
Conclusion – This hero I would play
This is what Jürgen Horn would like to play: I love the cool optics and the quirky heroes in Crucible. Of the characters introduced so far, I am most drawn to the big Earl. I like tanks and big guns. And somehow I find the space trucker likable. But Bugg is also high on my list because of his cuteness.
