The Killer “The Twins” in Dead by Daylight will not be ready at launch. Behaviour still intends to release them.
There is currently a small uproar in the Dead by Daylight community. The cause is the new killer “The Twins” and a significant problem found on the test realm. This issue cannot be resolved quickly. The developers still want to release the killer – and in an unfinished state.
What is the problem? The siblings Charlotte and Victor have some massive weaknesses that the developers apparently only noticed during testing on the PTR. For instance, Victor can be easily ignored or hindered by survivors in several ways, because:
- Victor cannot hit survivors running around trees. Charging his attack takes so long that survivors can simply continue running around the tree.
- Survivors who are jumped by Victor can essentially “kidnap” him by just running away with him. Charlotte cannot call Victor back until he downs the respective survivor.
- Victor cannot interact with lockers. Survivors are completely safe from him while in the locker.
How will it be fixed? The developers have already prepared a few updates and fixes for most of these problems. For the release of the chapter, the following changes are planned:
- If Victor is not shaken off after 45 seconds, Charlotte can see his aura and call him back on button press directly.
- Victor moves faster when he wants to perform his leap attack. This way, he can no longer be perpetually pulled around a tree.
However, the most important change will not come in the patch, but only after release, because:
- Victor will be able to interact with lockers in the future. If he finds a survivor inside, he will hold them captive for a while, while the killer has a few seconds to reach the locker with Charlotte.
Since this last change requires new animations, the implementation will take a while and will not be available at the start of the chapter. Therefore, immediately after release, the locker will be a safe haven against Victor.
Community wishes for more time: Players appreciate that Behaviour is addressing these issues, but they regret that the chapter is still set to be released before all problems are resolved. Here are some opinions from the subreddit:
(…) I am in no way happy with the state of the killer and have no interest in purchasing him in his current state or a theoretical state that might or might not be good under certain circumstances.

That’s why such a strict release schedule hurts so much for the killer’s balance. If you must adhere to such a strict timeline, then release the test server earlier, damn it!

Some even say that it completely ruins the anticipation:
This looks like a good first step. But the fact that the locker issue will still exist after release is terrible. It kills all hype for the release and the weeks or months it takes to implement [the fix].

The mood is quite negative. Many hope that Behaviour learns from the problem and takes more time for upcoming chapters to fix such issues.
Recently, Behaviour has been receiving a lot of criticism. There was already a medium-sized shitstorm at Halloween.
