The hidden gem: Drova
At first glance, Drova – Forsaken Kin seems to have little in common with Kingdom Come 2. After all, the action RPG from Just2D and Deck13, which will be released on October 15, 2024, for Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, uses a nostalgic 2D pixel look.

However, Drova offers a role-playing experience that strongly resembles Gothic in many areas. And that’s not just by chance; there are even clear references in dialogues and quests to the great role model.
Drova shines with a relatable world and daily routines for all inhabitants. The characters are down-to-earth and robust. You increase your reputation with various factions or camps. The voice of Bodo Henkel (Xardas) is heard in the intro. Level-ups grant learning points, which you invest in skill improvements with teachers.
Drova may not be perfect or super modern, but it still builds a fascination over the course of the adventure that doesn’t have to hide behind the other games mentioned here.
