Titles in Destiny 2: In the current Destiny installment, you can earn title suffixes for your characters. The titles are prestigious customization options and appear visible to all other Guardians next to your player name.
Currently, there are 13 different titles to flaunt in the game. Titles are not given for free. For most, hard tasks need to be completed and challenging triumphs must be unlocked.
Which title suffix sounds the coolest or is the hardest to achieve? To answer this question, we have compiled all the titles into a ranking.
This is how the ranking was established: The listing on which this article is based comes from Destiny expert Datto. He has made a name for himself among Guardians primarily through guides and analyses. He is one of the biggest Destiny streamers on Twitch.
Datto, together with his community, has developed a number of criteria and ranks all 13 currently available titles accordingly. The crucial criteria are:
- The difficulty of a title is determined by the triumphs needed. The activities are rated without cheeses or exploits.
- How much time is invested does not equate to difficulty. Aids like double XP or special modes are not taken into account.
- The individual triumphs are categorized. Tasks that can be completed in patrols are considered easy, raid activities as hard. Datto assumes you have a correspondingly high power level.
- The difficulty of a title is judged in the first three to six months after its arrival in the game.
- These points are not part of the difficulty topic: loot luck and whether you have a group or time to play.
- It is assumed that one has an average to slightly elevated skill level.
The titles in the ranking
We start our ranking with the hardest title to achieve in Destiny 2. Afterwards, we will work our way down to the title suffix that is the easiest to obtain.
The following titles are divided into what is called a tier list. S++ represents the highest tier (level) and E represents the lowest tier.
S++ Tier
Unbroken: To obtain the most prestigious title of all, you must prove yourself in PvP. Especially achieving the Legendary rank (5,450 points) in Competitive in three different seasons will be nearly impossible for most regular players. Unbroken is the only title in the S++ Tier.
S+ Tier
Riven’s Bane: True raid experts can adorn themselves with this title. The ‘Last Wish‘ is considered the raid which is hardest to complete flawlessly. This means that no one from your fireteam may die even once during the entire activity. The title Riven’s Bane takes the S+ Tier.
Shadow: To carry this dark title suffix, you must be well-versed in the raid ‘Crown of Sorrow‘. Besides a flawless raid run, you must also complete the heroic Menagerie without dying. The title Shadow also lands in the S+ Tier.
S Tier
Enlightened: Experts from the latest “Destiny 2” raid adorn themselves with this title. In ‘Garden of Salvation’, alongside a Flawless completion, there are also challenging challenges awaiting the Guardians. The title Enlightened occupies the S Tier alone.
A Tier
Forger: This title also requires a flawless raid completion. This time against the Fallen in ‘The Javelin of the Past‘. Additionally, grind-heavy tasks await the Guardians in the forges. Forger just barely misses the S Tier and is ranked as A Tier.
Omen: The ominous title is available to the most loyal aids of Eris Morn. You must endure various challenges on the Moon. This includes a solo and a flawless run through the new dungeon. Omen is ranked as A Tier.
B Tier
Instigator: The “Gambit Prime” title does not have such tricky individual triumphs. However, incredible effort and grind in the PvEvP hybrid is considered a nightmare for Datto. Instigator lands in the A Tier. Gambit fans rank the title in the B Tier.
MMXIX: The title inspired by Roman numerals is currently unachievable. You had to complete raid encounters as part of the Triumph Moments 2019 and unlock top weapons. Thus, MMXIX makes it to B Tier.
C Tier
Immortal: To show off with this title suffix, you must become timeless like the Vex. You don’t have long left. The title disappears with the start of Season 9. Immortal ranks in C Tier.
Cursebreaker: This title is awarded to Guardians who know the Dreaming City like the back of their hand. Besides a lot of waiting due to time locks, timetrials in the Ascendant Challenges complicate this title. Cursebreaker also lands in C Tier.
D Tier
Chronicler: Especially lore experts wear this title proudly. Many collection tasks and very long wait times await interested players. Chronicler is classified in D Tier.
Dredgen: Those who wish to show their affinity for the Gambit mode and the shady Vagabond call themselves Dredgen. Although you won’t encounter really tough individual triumphs, you need a lot of Gambit resets. Thus, the title is placed in D Tier.
E Tier
Wanderer: According to Datto, this is the easiest title to earn. The title Wanderer essentially only requires time investment and has even been made even more accessible. Thus, this beginner-friendly title lands in E Tier.
