Place 3: Jurassic World
It took 14 years before a new film series came after Jurassic Park 3. And those years didn’t pass without a trace. World is significantly more modern and was the reboot that the series needed to appeal to a new, younger audience.
The story starring Chris Pratt revolves around a newly opened park called Jurassic World. But of course, not everything stays in perfect petting zoo style.
The film doesn’t have the impact of the very first film, but it is interesting to see how the underlying idea is implemented today. At its core, it still works.
Place 2: The Lost World – Jurassic Park
Even though part 2 of the original series doesn’t have the same impact as its predecessor and is far from being as fascinating, it still has a great strength: Steven Spielberg.
The story, set four years after part 1, sends Jeff Goldblum’s character to another island full of dinos, holds little surprise, but Spielberg shows that even a weak script can result in a good film.
The production is thrilling, and no other film in the series is as close to the feeling of the original as this one.
Place 1: Jurassic Park
It should hardly surprise anyone that the first installment easily claims the top spot. Jurassic Park was a small revelation in 1993. Not only did the film showcase impressively lifelike dinosaurs for its time, but it also featured charismatic characters.
This results in a perfect mix of tension, fun, and fascination in the face of the gigantic and fearsome dinosaurs. The high quality of part 1 is the reason why none of the sequels can measure up to it. That’s not a problem, because even today Jurassic Park is still worth watching – even if it is not free of flaws.
