The Cannibal
The Cannibal, like the Hillbilly, has a chainsaw. However, this does not make him faster but rather a greater threat in close combat. His stats match the norm – he is large and has the usual movement speed for killers. The Cannibal has the reputation of being a “camper killer” because his ability promotes such a playstyle.
Special Ability: Bubba’s Chainsaw – The chainsaw must be charged. There is a loud engine sound when doing so. Once the chainsaw is revved up, The Cannibal strikes several times in cone-shaped attacks in his line of sight. The number of these strikes can be extended by pressing the ability button again before the attack finishes. Up to 3 special attacks in a row can be triggered before a cooldown is implemented.
The killer can be controlled and his direction can be changed as normal during this time. If a survivor is hit by one of the strikes, they immediately go down, though the attack continues. This means that several survivors can be attacked simultaneously with the chainsaw.
However, if the Cannibal collides with an object while the chainsaw is active, he falls into a short rage attack. He swings his chainsaw uncontrollably several times, hitting any enemies directly around him. However, during this time he cannot move and is thus effectively stunned.
If a dropped pallet is hit by the chainsaw, it is instantly destroyed and the attack breaks off. The Cannibal can then move again immediately.
Letting the chainsaw “run long” can prove to be a mistake, as a heating mechanic has been introduced since Patch 4.1.0. The chainsaw will overheat if not handled properly, plunging the Cannibal into a rage and causing him to swing wildly for 5 seconds.
How to use Bubba’s chainsaw correctly? The general rules for Bubba’s chainsaw are the same as those for the Hillbilly. Utilizing the chainsaw is only worthwhile if the survivor is not injured yet and you have the time to charge it fully before the survivor reaches a protection mechanism – such as a window or a pallet.
In addition, the chainsaw is perfect for when multiple survivors are at the same location. Unwary survivors could be taken down together and thus sacrificed.
The chainsaw can also serve as a “psychological weapon”. The looming threat of a hit that sends a survivor straight to the ground instills panic in some players and leads them to act impulsively.
In general, the Cannibal with the chainsaw is suitable for a playstyle that many players consider toxic. The Cannibal brings a survivor to the basement and then positions himself in a corner to wait. Thanks to the perk “Sneaky,” he loses his terror radius and simply waits until an unsuspecting survivor enters the basement to slice both the rescuer and the rescued simultaneously.
Who is the Cannibal suitable for? Those who enjoy a “camping” playstyle and surprising survivors during a rescue operation should choose the Cannibal. However, anyone who just loves to handle chainsaws and finds trees in that context boring may also be satisfied.
