The Hag
The Hag is a fairly defensive killer in Dead by Daylight, capable of placing up to 10 traps. These traps are simply drawn on the ground and allow teleportation to them once triggered. Additionally, the Hag is particularly small, making her difficult to see behind hay bales where other killers would tower over.
Special Ability: Blackened Trigger – The Hag is capable of quickly sketching a trap on the ground with her ability. This is a triangle painted with dirt that can be seen by survivors but is hard to detect in tall grass. A trap is triggered when a survivor approaches and stands or runs nearby (crouching or crawling survivors do not trigger the traps).
When a trap is triggered, a copy of The Hag appears at the location of the trap for a few seconds, emitting its own terror radius. If The Hag is within a certain radius of the triggered trap (40 meters), she can teleport to the trap and take its place.
Once a trap is triggered, it disappears and must be recreated.
A maximum of 10 traps can exist simultaneously in the game world. If the eleventh trap is placed, the first trap automatically disappears.
How to use Blackened Trigger correctly? As with the Trapper, correctly placing traps is essential for the Hag’s success. However, she has the advantage of being able to create her traps “out of nowhere” and place them much faster.
- Draw your traps in tight corridors and close to windows. Survivors in a chase will surely trigger them.
- Always place a trap by a hook where a survivor is hanging. If they are rescued, both the survivor and the rescuer are forced to either trigger the trap or sneak away slowly, allowing you to catch up.
- If survivors are “looping” you (leading you around in a circle multiple times), pause briefly and draw a trap. The survivor is now forced to either change their route or trigger the trap.
- The copy of The Hag that appears when a trap is triggered always looks in the direction of the survivor that triggered it. This means that after teleporting, you can immediately face the survivor.
- Always weigh whether you really want to teleport to a trap. It may make sense to continue pursuing the survivor who is probably frightened by the trap.
Who is the Hag suitable for? The Hag has a similar playstyle to the Trapper but is a bit trickier to play. Those who enjoy nasty “mind games” or particularly gruesome Mori animations will love the Hag.
