The Huntress
The Huntress is the first real ranged killer in Dead by Daylight, where accurate aiming matters. She continuously sings a song throughout the match, announcing herself even beyond her terror radius during chases. For that, she can throw her hatchets and inflict damage from a distance, where other killers would have to close in on survivors.
Special Ability: Hunting Axes – The Huntress starts with five hunting axes. Upon using her ability, she begins to “charge” a throw, and a sound plays when the throw is fully charged. Charging the throw increases both the range and speed of the hunting axe. If the axe hits a survivor, they take damage just like a regular hit.
The Huntress can recharge her hunting axes at lockers, but this takes time.
How to use the hunting axes correctly? Aiming with the hunting axes is reminiscent of shooters and requires some practice. The axe always flies relatively straight in the line of sight and becomes stronger the longer you charge the ability. With these tips, you should be prepared for most situations.
- The throwing axes themselves have a reasonably large hitbox and get stuck in many places. If you want to throw over boxes or other debris to hit a survivor behind it, you need to aim a bit higher.
- Survivors who slide over a pallet or climb through a window become “trapped in the animation” – they land in a fixed position, directly in front of the window or pallet. Aim for that spot to land a guaranteed hit.
- Don’t try to chase a survivor with a raised hunting axe. You will be massively slowed down and cannot catch up.
- Generally, you should not start or continue a chase if you have no hunting axes left.
- The hunting axes fly somewhat ballistically. You can make an arc by aiming upwards to hit more distant generators or throw over far-off obstacles.
- You can cancel a charged throw by pressing the attack button. The Huntress then puts her hunting axe away and you do not lose it.
Who is the Huntress suitable for? Those who have a bit of shooting experience will achieve many kills with the Huntress and are likely to make a good choice with her.
