The Animatronic
For many years, fans have been begging for a collaboration with Five Nights at Freddy’s – now it has finally happened. With the Animatronic, also known as Springtrap, a killer in a gruesome suit has entered the world of Dead by Daylight. With his axe, he can injure survivors, quickly pass through security doors to traverse the map, and snatch survivors out of pursuit in the blink of an eye. The Animatronic is a bit slower and has a speed of only 110% (4.4 m/s). Thus, the terror radius of 24 meters is also slightly reduced.
Special Ability: Fazbear’s Fright – The Animatronic can throw an axe. If the axe hits a survivor directly, it becomes lodged in their body and must be removed by the survivor. If the killer reaches the survivor while the axe is still embedded in their body, the survivor is immediately grabbed and can be hooked.
The security system creates 7 security doors on each map. The Animatronic and the survivors can pass through one door to come out through another. If the killer and survivors meet during this process, the survivors are immediately caught. When you pass through a door, you have the advantage for a few seconds of not having a terror radius, allowing you to sneak around.
How to use Fazbear’s Fright effectively? Using the axe basically works similarly to the Huntress. However, since you only have one throw, you should aim it precisely and make sure you hit. As long as the axe is lodged in a survivor, they are particularly vulnerable. Therefore, it’s generally a good choice to throw the axe at medium distance first and then pursue in close combat.
The network of doors is especially useful whenever you have just hooked a survivor and want to quickly move to the other side of the map. Since the doors are almost always located near generators, it is worthwhile to regularly traverse the security system. However, good map knowledge is required to avoid getting lost.
Who is the Animatronic suitable for? The Animatronic is of course suitable for all fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. But beyond that, the killer offers a lot of variety and creates unique gameplay that can be confusing at first while also providing many exciting possibilities.
However, the Animatronic is clearly an advanced killer, as you need to act tactically with the security doors and at the same time require good aim for the fire axe. If you are looking for a beginner killer, you will be disappointed here.
