The Ghoul

The Ghoul’s real name is Ken Kaneki and he comes from the series Tokyo Ghoul. He is the first anime killer to make it into Dead by Daylight. With his tentacles, he is able to move swiftly across the map or directly bite Survivors. The Ghoul has a movement speed of 4.6 m/s (115%) and an average size, but has a very large terror radius of a proud 40 meters.

Ken Kaneki is actually a good guy. Actually.

Special Ability: Claw – Claw is the primary movement and attack ability of the Ghoul. The Claw allows the Ghoul to latch onto all vertical surfaces and quickly pull himself to that location. Since the Claw has two charges, you can make two jumps in quick succession and thus dash around corners or cover large distances.

The second jump of the Claw can injure Survivors directly if you hit them. If a Survivor is a valid target for a hit, you will see a symbol: an open ghoul mouth. Otherwise, the mouth is closed.

How to use the Claw correctly? Using the Claw correctly is the key to this killer. First, you need to learn that the first jump can never injure a Survivor. You can pull yourself directly toward a Survivor, but that does not injure them. It takes a few seconds before the Ghoul can strike.

It is significantly more efficient to use the first jump of the Claw to position yourself well and then hit a Survivor directly with the second jump. This injures them, inflicts a deep wound, and marks them, which puts you into the rage mode, increasing your maximum jumps to 3 as long as at least one Survivor is marked.

Note that you cannot switch levels with the Claw. If you try to pull yourself up to a building or a hill, you will stay on the ground. The same applies when switching from top to bottom. If the first jump sends you from the first floor of a building to the ground, the cooldown of the Claw will immediately start – you won’t have another jump.

Pro
  • High mobility.
  • Unpredictable movements for Survivors.
  • Can keep Survivors occupied for a long time.
Contra
  • Ability requires rethinking.
  • After using the ability, there is no follow-up.
  • Very large terror radius.

Who is the Ghoul suitable for? The Ghoul is naturally suited for all fans of the anime Tokyo Ghoul who want to live out their killer fantasies within Dead by Daylight. Thanks to some spoken, Japanese voicelines, the Ghoul has a bit more personality than some other killers. However, the Ghoul is not a very direct killer. You literally have to think around corners to get the most out of him. And that can require quite a bit of practice.
