The Knight
The knight, whose real name is Tarhos Kovács, is quite special. Instead of going into battle alone, he is accompanied by three different guardians, his “Guardia Compagnia”, to whom he can assign different tasks.
This allows the knight to act in multiple places at once or transform particularly advantageous areas of survivors into dark death traps. His stats are average, he has a standard movement speed, a terror radius of 32 meters, and an average size.
Special ability: Guardia Compagnia – The knight can rely on his allies from the past and summon them when needed. Which of his guards he summons follows a fixed order. Only one guardian can be active at a time.
When pressing the ability button, the knight enters the “Summon” mode. There he can do two different things:
- “Draw” a route
- Select an object
Route: In ghostly form, the knight walks along a path and marks it. Once the ability ends, the guardian is summoned at the end of the route and patrols back along the previously drawn path.
Object: Selecting an object like a generator, a pallet, or a breakable wall. In this case, the guardian appears and begins to damage the respective object.
When the guardians patrol, they have a visible circle around them. This is their perception area, where they can detect survivors that they have a clear line of sight to.
If a survivor is discovered, the guard screams, places a standard on the ground, and begins to chase the survivor for a while. When the survivor is caught, the guard strikes and injures them. Survivors can end the chase by running far enough away from the guard or by pulling the standard out of the ground.
The three summonable guards always appear in this order, even if addons can manipulate this:
- Executioner: He can destroy or damage objects faster.
- Assassin: He is a better hunter and inflicts survivors with “Deep Wound” on a hit.
- Jailer: He patrols longer and has a greater detection range.
How to properly use Guardia Compagnia? Because Guardia Compagnia is so versatile, it is also difficult to always choose the correct approach here, as this can be very situational. Basically, you will need to practice for a while to memorize the order of the guardians – by the way, you recognize the next guardian by the glowing symbol on the killer’s hand.
Basically, the ability is perfect for immediately interrupting annoying “loops” with strong pallets. If you notice that the survivor keeps leading you in circles, you can briefly tap the ability to summon a guardian immediately. The guardian may not patrol, but poses a threat to the survivor, forcing them to run to another cover.
You can also use the power to instruct a guard to destroy an already fallen pallet during a chase. Then you can take up the chase while your assistant destroys the pallet.
Later in the game, you can use the guardians to control and patrol multiple generators simultaneously. Survivors are likely to be frightened by this multiple times, giving you more time to pursue them.
In the endgame collapse, the guardians are especially valuable, as you can scout one of the gates from a distance and block it temporarily with a guardian while you are at another gate.
However, note that Guardia Compagna has a cooldown period, so there is always a “dangerous period” when you cannot use your power and are practically just a “normal killer” with melee attacks.
Who is the Knight suitable for? The Knight is suitable for everyone who likes to manage multiple things simultaneously. In the heat of the battle, it can be difficult to use Guardia Compagnia correctly and not simply forget it.
However, anyone who spends too much time trying to create the perfect patrolling routes gives survivors a lot of time and tends to stumble over their own feet. The Knight is thus more suitable for calculated tacticians who can make sensible decisions even under pressure.
