The Hillbilly

Despite being one of the standard killers, the Hillbilly is more suited for advanced players. His chainsaw is not just a cruel murder weapon but also a fast movement ability, allowing the Hillbilly to patrol the map quickly.

Special Ability: Chainsaw – The chainsaw needs to be charged briefly, during which the killer slows down. Once fully charged, the killer charges forward at an extremely high speed but can only navigate slightly. If he hits a survivor during this dash, that survivor immediately goes down (effectively causing “2 damage”). If he charges towards a palette that has been dropped, it is instantly destroyed.

If the Hillbilly collides with another object (like a tree or wall) during the sprint, he will be stunned for a moment.

The chainsaw sprint can be prematurely ended, making the killer immobile for a very short moment.

Since Patch 4.1.0, the chainsaw has a new overheating mechanic. It is no longer possible to use or charge the chainsaw indefinitely. If the overheat gauge fills, the chainsaw can no longer be used until it has fully cooled down.

If the chainsaw overheats during a chainsaw sprint, the sprint continues. The overheating only occurs once the sprint has ended.

How to use the chainsaw correctly? Correctly using the chainsaw is a long practice process. Basically, you should only start the chainsaw in a chase when you are confident you can hit the survivor and they are at full health. Typically, this is when you are right behind the survivor in a narrow corridor or have “body-blocked” them in a hiding spot.

  • It can also be useful to start the chainsaw if the survivor is waiting at a palette and about to drop it. In that case, you can charge and immediately destroy the palette to get right back on their tail. Just be mindful of the overheating.
  • If the survivor is already injured, using the chainsaw is generally not worth it. A standard strike is easier to land and is sufficient in this case.
  • Outside of chases, the chainsaw can help you quickly bridge the entire map. This way you can also practice your control and weave between obstacles.
  • It can be helpful to “rev up” the chainsaw every now and then, as this can panic many (inexperienced) survivors and drive them out of their hiding spots.
Pro
  • Extremely fast movement speed
  • “One-hit” ability halves the duration of chases
  • High skill cap for experienced players
Contra
  • Strength varies massively depending on the played map
  • Using the chainsaw requires a lot of practice
  • Using addons is almost mandatory

Who is the Hillbilly suitable for? Those who want to constantly instill fear in survivors with the “one-hit” chainsaw will be happy with the Hillbilly. Nothing is more satisfying than sending a survivor straight to the ground with just one cut.
