The Wraith

The Wraith is the second killer of Dead by Daylight and the first to possess active camouflage. With his Wailing Bell, he can cloak himself and move almost invisibly across the map. The Wraith is also an excellent choice as a beginner killer since his stats match the base values of all killers.

Special Ability: Wailing Bell – The Wailing Bell is an ability that can be used an unlimited number of times. The ability must be charged for a few seconds to be fully utilized. The killer either switches to invisibility or reappears from invisibility. If the ability is interrupted during use, the killer remains in his current form. While invisible, the Wraith moves faster but cannot attack, though he can interact with objects (climbing through windows, disrupting generators, breaking pallets). When he switches back to his visible form, he gains a brief speed boost.

While invisible, the Wraith has no terror radius (heartbeat) and the red veil over the killer’s eyes is not visible to survivors. However, the Wraith still makes breathing and footstep noises. At a distance of more than 20 meters from each survivor, the Wraith is completely invisible; under 20 meters, he is visible as a faint wisp. If the Wraith stands still, the visible wisp completely disappears, even below the 20-meter threshold. Alert survivors, however, can still hear him.

How to use the Wailing Bell correctly? The Wailing Bell and its associated invisibility are perfect for sneakily locating survivors. Patrol in invisibility around generators until you find the survivors. Skilled killers can even bodyblock survivors while invisible, ensuring they have no escape route until they are out of invisibility and can land at least one hit.

Ultimately, it is wise to use the Wailing Bell outside the survivors’ line of sight (for example, behind a wooden wall, right next to a generator), as this makes it difficult for survivors to know exactly where the killer will appear and can potentially lead them straight into your arms.

Pro
  • Invisibility allows for scaring many survivors
  • Fast movement speed while cloaked
  • Easy to track down survivors since they are not warned by a terror radius
Contra
  • Exiting invisibility takes time
  • Vulnerability to flashlights
  • No additional offensive abilities outside of basic attacks

Who is the Wraith suitable for? The Wraith is also quite effective to play without addons and is especially suitable for players who enjoy surprising and stealthily approaching the survivors.
