The Demogorgon / The Demogorgon

The Demogorgon originates from the Netflix horror series “Stranger Things” and is thus a killer from the newer age. This cruel beast with the flower-like head utilizes some abilities associated with “the Upside Down” – a dark, sinister world where monsters and other creatures exist, and human life stands no chance. Through portals to the Upside Down, the Demogorgon can not only traverse the map quickly but also sense survivors and attack them.

The basic stats of the Demogorgon are average for killers.

Special Ability: From the Abyss – The Demogorgon can channel its power to locate survivors near its portals. They pulse with a reddish effect when they are in close proximity to its portals.

While “From the Abyss” is charged and held, the Demogorgon can execute an attack known as “Lacerate.” Depending on how long it has charged the ability, the Demogorgon lunges forward in a straight line and hits the first survivor in its path. However, it cannot change direction while doing so.

Using the “Alternate Power” key, the Demogorgon can place portals on the ground. If it stands on a portal and looks towards a second portal, it can “dig through the Upside Down” with the same key and arrive at the target portal. During this action, it temporarily receives the “Undetected” effect, allowing the Demogorgon to temporarily have no terror radius.

How to use Out of the Abyss correctly? Out of the Abyss is a powerful ability that allows multiple actions. However, it requires practice and planning to use it correctly. Especially placing the portals needs to be practiced as good positions for portals vary from map to map. Here are some tips for placing portals:

  • The number of your maximum portals is limited. By default, you can only have 6 active at the same time and cannot place new ones until another is destroyed.
  • Portals are considered “inactive” until they have been used for the first time from a start or endpoint to cross “to the other side”. Only then do they count as active.
  • Survivors can seal active portals. However, this takes time and ensures that they cannot perceive any terror radius during this action. This is the perfect time to surprise them.
  • Place portals near generators, exits, vantage points, or totems to immediately notice survivors when they are nearby.
  • If a portal is in a “dead zone” because there are no generators in that part of the map, then you should let survivors seal that portal. This way, you can open a new portal in a better position afterwards.

Also, the use of “Tear Apart” needs to be learned, as it is not that easy to hit a survivor with it. Therefore, here are a few tricks with which you can have more success with your jumping attack or hints to consider:

  • Tear Apart is perfect in long corridors with no escape option. Here you can cover a lot of distance and land a hit immediately.
  • Use Tear Apart only when you are sure you will hit. If you miss your target, you will be briefly slowed down. If you crash into a hard object (a wall, box, or similar), you will be stunned for a short time.
  • Tear Apart does not count as a “normal hit”. So, if you have perks that trigger their effects only when the survivor is injured by a normal attack, these perks are not triggered by Tear Apart.
  • If you have the option to hit a survivor normally or with Tear Apart, especially if the survivor is trapped by you, always choose Tear Apart. A hit with the ability grants an extreme amount of Bloodpoints.
  • Tear Apart can, like normal attacks, still hit survivors who are already about to jump through a window or slide over a pallet.
Pro
  • Extremely high mobility thanks to portals
  • Good tracking capabilities
  • Diverse and interesting addons
Contra
  • Chasing can quickly become monotonous
  • Weak against experienced survivors
  • At a disadvantage on maps with many twists and turns

Who is the Demogorgon suitable for? Fans of the Netflix series will undoubtedly enjoy the Demogorgon. Otherwise, the killer is a beast that combines planning and brutality. Chases might become a bit monotonous, as one relies almost solely on close combat. Experienced players can quickly end these chases with Tear Apart.
