What exactly does it bring?
- The upgrade to the PS5 allows you to benefit from the performance of the PS5. Loading times are shorter and the games look better. The PS5 loading times are so short that a common feature no longer works.
- Some games offer additional content on the PS5 compared to the PS4, such as in-game items or additional DLCs.
After the upgrade, you just need to make sure that you start the correct game version on the PS5. Otherwise, you will continue to play the old PS4 version.
What should you consider when upgrading from PS4 to PS5? In general, you do not necessarily have to upgrade to the better version if you do not want to download a large game.
With an upgrade, you usually still keep the PS4 version. This means you can still play the game on your PS4.
If you played the PS4 version before and are now switching to the PS5 version, you often have to start the games from the beginning, as save files are not always compatible with the PS5.
You can also upgrade PS4 games on disc to a digital PS5 version, but you will still need your PS4 disc. You cannot play these games on a PS5 Digital Edition.
Is the update to the PlayStation 5 version free? Sony leaves it to the developers to decide whether they offer the upgrade for their games for free or for a fee. Some developers only offer the upgrade to the PS5 in a more expensive edition.
