Destiny 2 has many DLCs, but not everyone enjoys great acclaim in the community. MyMMO’s Destiny expert Christos has taken the time to rank all the DLCs and show you which expansions of the loot shooter are the best.
How is this ranking determined? The ranking takes into account many aspects to assign a place to the expansions. These include:
- The abundance of content
- Innovations that further developed Destiny 2
- Post-content after the release
And the most important point of all is the story and treatment of the expansion and how well it could advance the narrative. I will list all the expansions with their rank and go into detail about the top 5, explaining why they are so good and why they deserve the chosen place.
Who is writing here?
MyMMO author Christos Tsogos has known the universe of Destiny since its release in 2014. Since then, Christos has consumed every expansion and played every activity and season. There are many DLCs that Destiny 2 has seen up to 2025, but not all are worth it. For this reason, our expert shows you all the expansions in the ranking and explains which are the best and which are the worst.

- Rank 8: Curse of Osiris
- Rank 7: Warmind
- Rank 6: Shadowkeep
Rank 5: Lightfall
Lightfall is the prime example of a missed opportunity. Bungie had great potential to create something exciting with Neomuna and the new race of the Cloudstriders that could still exist in the Destiny 2 universe in the future – but that potential was not utilized.
The expansion provided an unworthy continuation of the story, considering that this was supposed to herald almost the end of the 10-year saga. The introduced characters lacked depth, the narrative felt insignificant, and the new destination failed to convince despite its colorful cyberpunk theme.
The only bright spot was Strand, with which players could create new builds, as well as the raid with Nezarec, but aside from that, new content and most seasons were rather flat compared to other DLCs. A harsh disappointment and arguably one of the worst expansions that Bungie has delivered – although better than Rank 8 – 6.
