Not every PlayStation 4 game will be playable via the PlayStation 5’s backward compatibility. Sony has now listed the PS4 games that will not work on the next-gen console.
What is the backward compatibility of the PS5 about? On the PlayStation 5, you will not only be able to play brand-new games specifically developed for the next-gen console. A variety of PS4 games will also run on the PS5 – thanks to the backward compatibility features.
According to Sony, more than 99% of the over 4,000 PS4 games are supposed to be playable on the PS5. However, the new PlayStation 5 will not be compatible with PS1, PS2, and PS3. You can find more about this here: PS5 – The 9 most important answers on backward compatibility
But which PS4 games actually do not run on the PS5? And what should you pay attention to?
These PS4 games do not run on the PS5
So far, the list remains fortunately quite manageable. As of now, 10 PS4 games have been confirmed that will not work on the PS5.

- Robinson: The Journey

Will this remain the case? According to Sony, this list can still change. Additionally, it only includes games. Demos, media, or other applications from the PS4 that do not run on the PS5 are not listed here.
What should you pay attention to when it comes to games: You will be able to recognize the games that are not supported on the PS5 in the PS Store. Pay attention to the label “PS4 Only” or “Only PS4” in the PlayStation Store.
And even though there are currently only 10 PS4 games that will officially not be playable on the PS5 and the majority of the PS4 library is supported on the PS5 thanks to backward compatibility: Even with some supported titles, some PS4 features may be missing or faulty on the PS5. Generally, some PS4 games may exhibit bugs or unexpected behavior on the PlayStation 5, according to Sony.
Here it will be important to always keep the PS5 firmware up to date.
When does the PS5 actually launch? In Germany and Europe, the PlayStation 5 will be available from November 19. In the USA, Canada, Japan, and some other countries, the PS5 will launch a week earlier – on November 12. Currently, however, Sony’s next-gen console is completely sold out.
