In Destiny 2 the Season of Arrival is now live. MeinMMO provides you with all the important information about the new Season 11 in a compact format. Here you will find everything about activities, content, the new season pass and the story.
What is a season in Destiny 2? A season lasts about three months and provides the game with new content. These are usually themed around a seasonal topic. The big difference from classic DLCs or expansions is that the seasons do not release all their contents at once, but spread it over the entire three months.
Compared to the classic expansions, a season is cheaper and includes plenty of content for all players, so it is free for every Guardian – whether they pay or not. You can purchase the current season separately and dive directly into the action, even if you weren’t there for the previous seasons.
Also in year 4, Destiny 2 will rely on the season model, but in a revised, improved form.

The new Season 11 is here: On June 9, the start signal for the Season of Arrival was fired with a bang. In the live stream, Bungie finally revealed what the Guardians have been waiting for and what to expect until the next big thing in Fall 2020 in Destiny 2.
We will continuously expand this article throughout the season and fill it with the latest content.
On July 16, it was announced that the Fall DLC has been postponed to November. This has also changed the roadmap for Season 11. You can find the current version here:
Everything you need to know about Season 11 in Destiny 2
To keep players entertained for about three months, the Season of Arrival offers among other things:
- a dark story
- several new PvE activities
- a new dungeon
- fresh weapons, armor, and loot
- numerous changes and adjustments
Story in the Season of Arrival
The focus of the story is on the arrival of the Pyramid ships in our solar system, which bring darkness with them. The story thus connects to the events of Season 10:
- The Guardians could observe how the enemy fleet of darkness approached week by week
- At the season’s conclusion, a cutscene finally announced that the Pyramid ships had reached Jupiter
- After 6 years, our arch-enemy is finally at our doorstep
These events have been pushed forward in the background over the past years but are now in the spotlight.
This is how the story continues: What the threatening arrival means for us and the solar system will be revealed in the coming months. The Pyramid ships have already landed on Io and are preparing their invasion.
The Season of Arrival will storywise serve as the prequel to Destiny 2: Beyond Light, the big fall expansion.
The Pyramids are supposed to visibly show their presence. We expect Destiny 2 to up its storytelling through the environment a few notches in this season.
Our arch-enemy is expected to position itself continually, becoming increasingly threatening, and representing a palpable danger. In the fall, “Beyond Light” will then be unleashed on the Guardians.
PvE Content and Activities in Season 11
New dungeon: The climax of the big reveal stream regarding the future of Destiny 2 dropped a real bombshell:
New dungeon “Prophecy” is here – What you need to know
The Guardians embark on a quest in the dungeon to follow the mysterious Nine and the Darkness. The activity features a surreal atmosphere where up is down, and reality plays tricks.

After Season 11, the Prophecy dungeon will disappear from Destiny 2. But not for long, as Bungie announced that some adjustments will be made in the game.
What are dungeons in Destiny? Dungeons are considered to be among the most popular PvE content. They are longer missions for up to 3 players and remind players of mini-versions of the large raids from the Destiny universe with their challenging combat and puzzles.
Currently, Guardians can venture into two dungeons:
The public contact event: The Pyramid ships have reached Io and Titan. There, you can expect a new PvE activity: the contact event.
You can find out how to master the activity and trigger the secret heroic level in our guide:
Like the Seraph Tower event, this activity also takes place in the public space. If you don’t want to rely on your teammates, you should check out our build to rock the contact event.
