Place 3: Bilbo Baggins
After Bilbo accidentally finds the One Ring in a tunnel deep under the Misty Mountains, he keeps it for several decades. Over the years, he repeatedly benefits from the power of the jewel. While he does feel the sinister influence, he is never possessed like Sméagol once was.
However, the influence of the Ring continues to increase. For example, he quickly becomes nervous when he is not sure where the Ring is. When Gandalf then demands that Bilbo give the Ring to Frodo, he hesitates at first. But eventually, he succeeds and thus becomes the first person to voluntarily give up ownership of the One Ring.
Bilbo’s adventure begins in the trailer of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”
Overall, it is very impressive how long Bilbo was able to withstand the power of the Ring. He has truly earned third place in this ranking.
