Place 7: Isildur
After Sauron was defeated for the first time in the Battle of the Last Alliance, Isildur took the Ring for himself. Although the elves Elrond and Círdan advised him to resist the power, Isildur, the king of Arnor and Gondor, wanted to keep the Ring – as restitution for all he had lost in the fight against Sauron.
While Isildur never completely succumbed to evil, he was nevertheless negatively influenced by it. Ultimately, he came to his senses and wanted to give the Ring to Elrond. Unfortunately, it never happened because the Ring betrayed him: Isildur was fleeing from orcs. As he swam across the Anduin, the Ring slipped from his finger, making him visible again, and he was killed by orc arrows.
Isildur was stronger than Gollum, for he noticed the bad influence the Ring had on him. Unfortunately, he was not strong enough to resist the temptation from the beginning.
