24 + 25. Nova Mortis and Abbadon
This Exotic is about: Nova Mortis was the Void version of the beloved MG Thunderlord and Abbadon represented the corresponding Solar variant. All three weapons played identically and differed only by damage type.
Ideally, the two versions would not come to Destiny 2 as standalone Exotics, but as masterwork catalysts for Thunderlord. Similar to Hard Light, the element could then be switched at will. One can still dream.
26. Nemesis Star
This Exotic is about: The machine gun Nemesis Star could be played in two ways:
- slowly, precisely, and with continuous bullet hail
- shooting short bursts, rattling quickly
Despite its versatility, the Nemesis Star was overshadowed. An Exotic that we don’t really need in Destiny 2.
27. Extremely Good Advice
This Exotic is about: Extremely Good Advice is another heavy MG that was quite popular during the early days of Destiny. The exotic abilities ensured that you could fire continuously and really go Rambo – even missed shots returned to the weapon.
Especially in the first raid, the Glass Chamber, it was THE weapon against Oracles. Does Bungie still remember this and consider a return with the reintroduction of the Vault of Glass?
28. Wolf Howl
This Exotic is about: Wolf Howl is the weapon of an Iron Lord. One strike could burn enemies, weakening their defense.
Most players would have preferred Saladin’s fire axe. Therefore, Wolf Howl is somewhat of a stepchild Exotic sword from Destiny 1.
What about the Exotic Sword Trio?
This Exotic is about: The three original exotic swords are essentially legendary weapons in the game now. Since Season 11, the trio has been reunited.
- Everyone can possess the uppercut from the Executor of Trade
- The spin attack from the Dark Drinker is used by the falling guillotine
- The lightning thrower from the bow thrower uses the Claw of Temptation
29. Dragon Breath
This Exotic is about: The rocket launcher Dragon Breath fired napalm rounds, which you could detonate at will to ignite an area – Guardians created really nasty traps that way.
From time to time, entries for a Solar rocket launcher pop up in the databases, fueling rumors about the return of Dragon Breath on … but the speculation also relates to another, much more famous weapon.
30. Gjallarhorn
This Exotic is about: The rocket launcher Gjallarhorn is known far beyond the borders of the Destiny universe. It earned its reputation by solving every situation with superior firepower. In principle, it followed the motto: Whoever says violence is not a solution, simply doesn’t use enough of it. Or doesn’t have a Gjallarhorn.
This was the weapon that every Guardian wanted and hunted for months, if not years. In its honor, even a holiday was created: Destiny 2 celebrates G-Day – A day to remember an OP weapon.
Which Exotic do you think should still make the jump from classic to Destiny 2? Are you a fan of recycling (at least when it comes to weapons), or would you rather keep the weapons in memory and occasionally reminisce about the good old days?
