Assault rifles are the most used weapon class in Call of Duty: Warzone, and virtually every Battle Royale player is likely to have their favorite. We asked you – Which assault rifle do you actually prefer? And you responded in large numbers.
Assault rifles are the all-round weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone. Whether short, medium, or long-range against the enemy – with the right assault rifle, you can handle them all. It’s no wonder that the “Swiss Army knives of the Warzone weapons” are so popular.
But which assault rifle is the most popular among you? In a survey that started on October 10 at 5 PM, we asked you exactly that, and 1,715 readers of the MeinMMO community gave us an answer (as of October 14 / 10:30 AM). Here you will find the complete evaluation with a clear winner:
Assault Rifles in Season 6 – Places 23 to 11
- Rank 23: FR 5.56 – 3 votes
- Rank 23: Oden – 3 votes
- Rank 21: FAL – 6 votes
- Rank 20: Groza – 9 votes
- Rank 19: AS VAL – 10 votes
- Rank 19: FN Scar 17 – 10 votes
- Rank 17: AN-94 – 15 votes
- Rank 16: AK-47 CoD MW – 21 votes
- Rank 15: QBZ-83 – 28 votes
- Rank 14: Grav – 29 votes
- Rank 13: RAM-7 – 37 votes
- Rank 12: C58 – 38 votes
- Rank 11: FFAR 1 – 47 votes
A glance at the top 13 weapons in the ranking already shows how much broader the weapon meta of the Warzone has become in recent months. Assault rifles like the RAM-7, QBZ, or Groza are indeed considered strong in Battle Royale. But being strong is not enough anymore – the favor of the experts and the community is also important today to prevail.
In Season 6, experts like JGOD or TrueGameData see 3 newcomers in the meta:
Assault Rifles in Season 6 – Places 10 to 6
- Rank 10: CR-56 AMAX – 77 votes
The AMAX dominated the meta shortly after the hype of tactical rifles and FFAR 1 in early 2021. Some nerfs have taken a bit of its shine away. However, if you prefer weapons from CoD MW and don’t mind a bit of recoil, you’ll get solid damage with good range.
- Rank 9: EM2 – 78 votes
The EM2 from Cold War comes with a pre-mounted sight, allowing you to save an attachment slot. It can also perform well as sniper support in Season 5. A special feature is its chest hits: here the EM2 offers unlimited range, and the time-to-kill does not decrease in the second damage range.
- Rank 8: Kilo 141 – 82 votes
The Kilo is a reliable companion in Warzone but has suffered from a few nerfs. The assault rifle now has a third damage range, and at around 80 meters, the time-to-kill exceeds one second. However, the Kilo is very stable, and if you avoid too many long-range scenarios or enjoy playing Rebirth Island, the Kilo still rocks.
- Rank 7: Grau 5.56 – 110 votes
The Grau was the summer hit of 2020 and still enjoys the trust of many players – rightly so. With its strong iron sight, you can even take down distant opponents without a scope and save an attachment slot. While its damage isn’t spectacular, the Grau impresses with its stability.
- Rank 6: Krig 6 – 119 votes
This assault rifle was by far the most popular weapon until the last nerf and still draws from that phase. The damage/recoil ratio is no longer optimal but still quite usable. The Krig can still hold its position at 6th place.
Assault Rifles Season 6 – Places 5 to 1 with Setups
For the top 5, we will additionally show you the currently most popular setup according to “WZRanked.com“. The statistical site evaluates a part of the player information from Warzone to determine the most played weapons including their setups. You can also get an assessment of the current meta there – how this “meta formula” works, we will explain here:
Rank 5: M4A1 with 133 votes
The M4 was already a meta contender in the multiplayer of Modern Warfare and scores with a good risk-to-reward ratio. The recoil is noticeable but manageable, and the damage is also good. A solid 5th place.
- Warzone: M4A1 Setup
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: M16 Grenadier
- Sight: VLK 3.0x Sight
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 60 Round Magazine
Rank 4: M13 with 151 votes
The M13 is extremely stable and thus ranks high on our list of the best weapons when it comes to assault rifles for range. If you want to securely blow out the lights of opponents at long distances, there’s hardly a better choice in this weapon class. However, the M13 burns through a lot of ammunition due to its high fire rate.
- Warzone: M13 Setup
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Tempus Marksman
- Sight: VLK 3.0x Sight
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition: 50 Round Magazine
Rank 3: XM4 with 169 votes
The XM4 is an exciting option if you don’t mind the noticeable recoil. Whether in close or long-range combat – you benefit from the very high neck damage multiplier, which is on par with headshots. This means you also deal headshot damage to the upper chest area, which can make the difference in critical moments.
- Warzone: XM4 Setup
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 13.5″ Special Forces
- Sight: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
- Ammunition: STANAG 60 Round
Rank 2: FARA 83 with 171 votes
The FARA has an interesting history in Warzone. Initially regarded as a close-combat behemoth, it was completely reworked by the developers. After a brief period at the top of the range meta, where the FARA had almost no recoil, the weapon fell off a bit, but it’s still stable enough to land in your second place.
- Warzone: FARA Setup
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 18.7″ Spetsnaz RPK Barrel
- Sight: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
- Ammunition: Spetsnaz 60 Round
Rank 1: AK-47 from Cold War with 369 votes
The AK-47 from Cold War has clawed its way into the weapon meta in recent months and has risen step by step. Initially conquering the place as the best sniper support weapon, after a recoil buff, this Russian original now works well at long range. The damage/recoil ratio is currently unbeatable in Warzone – it is not a laser with perfect control but a beast that wants to be tamed by you. A deserved first place.
- Warzone: AK-47 Setup Cold War
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 20″ Spetsnaz RPK Barrel
- Sight: Axial Arms 3x
- Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
- Ammunition: 45 rounds
That was our ranking of all assault rifles in Warzone. Thank you to all readers who participated in the survey. The meta of the Warzone is constantly evolving but currently offers many options, and the fight for the top spots was quite close – except for the AK-47, which clearly wins with a substantial lead.
