On July 10th, the new update Percival of the sandbox MMORPG Albion Online was released. Highlights of the patch include the solo dungeons and new features for fashion and styling fans.
What are the new solo dungeons? On March 20th, randomized dungeons were introduced with the Oberon update. These are dungeons that appear randomly on the world map, are randomly generated, and have varying difficulty levels.
This concept is now being adopted for the solo dungeons. These are intended to provide challenges for solo players and include both familiar and new opponents.
The new dungeons can be recognized by the portal entrance and scale their difficulty according to the area in which they appear.
What else does the patch offer? In addition to the solo dungeons, the update Percival includes two other major new features. Firstly, there are now new options for the appearance of characters, and secondly, weapons have been given new abilities.
Adjust your character’s appearance for free anywhere
What’s new with the characters? You can now adjust your character’s appearance from anywhere by right-clicking on your character portrait. There you can change the face, hairstyle, and skin color at any time, free of charge.
However, completely new hairstyles and faces have also been added that you can give to your character. Unlocking each option costs gold.
Anyone with a flair for fashion will be doubly pleased. Percival also brought new mount skins to customize your loyal companion’s appearance.
What’s new for the weapons? The new patch introduced a total of 7 new skills for different weapons:
- Axes: Whirlwind Blades
- Frost Staffs: Ice Shards
- Hammers: Ring of Inertia
- Nature Staffs: Refreshing Breeze
- Battle Staffs: Uplifting Strike
- Spears: The Spear
- Swords: Parry Strike
How strong these will be and whether they can compete with others will be revealed in the coming days and weeks.
How is it going with Albion Online? After switching to Free2Play in April 2019, Albion Online has performed exceptionally well. Player numbers on Steam and also through the client skyrocketed.
Meanwhile, the curve has at least flattened on Steam, but is still significantly higher than before the model change. In June, according to Steamcharts, an average of 4,312 players played, and during peak times, there were a total of 7,565. Thus, the game has ten times better numbers than it had in March of this year.
