With the new update Nimue, the developer studio Sandbox Interactive introduces major innovations, increasing the mood in the MMORPG Albion Online.
For a long time, the sandbox MMORPG was stagnant, player numbers on Steam were declining, but the new update rekindles interest.
An update for guilds
What does Nimue bring? With the comprehensive update Nimue, released on November 21, a series of changes are introduced, some of which are based on player feedback and particularly target guilds:
- New 5v5 GvG mode “Battles on the Crystal Level”
- Ability to change guild logos
- Interactable objects and furniture can be placed with the mouse cursor
- New bosses and guardian aspects
- You can now mark opponents and view group members’ roles
- Improvements to the faction outposts and the arena
- Bug fixes
Players are excited
The new update is received very well: Albion Online stagnated somewhat in the past. However, with Nimue, significant innovations and changes are coming to the game, which are welcomed by fans. Nimue is even regarded by some players as the best update for the game so far.
The positive mood is also reflected in player numbers. It seems that the update is drawing players back to Albion. According to Steamcharts, player numbers are rising again for the first time since the MMORPG’s release on Valve’s platform.
Even the reviews are improving and are now “mostly positive” for the past 30 days, with reviews showing an upward trend especially since the launch of Nimue.
The current state of Albion Online: The sandbox MMORPG launched very strongly in July 2017, but quickly lost many players. Earlier this year, about half of the studio’s staff had to be let go. Now, however, it seems that the tides are turning. For some time now, there has been a very positive conversation about the MMORPG. With the current update Nimue, the developers have done a lot right. Only time will tell if Albion Online can maintain this upward trend.
