In Albion Online, the major patch “Cador” was launched, bringing numerous new contents. And now death occurs in a completely different way.
The Heretics have been expanded
In the MMORPG Albion Online, significant upgrades were made on March 23rd, as the “Cador” update has been applied. A great deal of work has gone into expanding the faction “Heretics”, making them much more immersive and offering much more content. There are some new dungeons, completely new mobs (and corresponding bosses), which, of course, come with attractive rewards.
Moreover, more than 25 new abilities are waiting for the characters along with a multitude of balancing changes, which you can find in detail in our sources.
A new way to die
Fundamentally, the death of a character is also changing. Once the health points fall to 0, the hero is in a wounded state and slowly regenerates health points until they can ultimately get back up. However, most mobs and also other players will not allow this: While friends have the opportunity to help the character up, monsters and enemy players can channel a finishing blow that permanently sends the character across the river. This can be interrupted by damage taken, a system similar to what is known from Guild Wars 2. Many fans are concerned that this mechanic will negatively affect PvP. The developers comment on this:
“Killing a player character will have a significant impact on the upcoming reputation system – we want the execution of a character to be a very conscious decision. Moreover, we believe that the new system brings more tactical depth and excitement to PvP battles.”
The sandbox MMORPG Albion Online is currently still in beta but is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year.
