The beta of the MMORPG Ascent: Infinite Realm (A:IR) was originally supposed to start in 2019. However, there hasn’t been any news about it lately. What’s going on with the new game from the creators of TERA?
What is the current status of A:IR? The MMORPG has already entered beta in Korea and Thailand. Now the open beta is set to be expanded in Southeast Asia. It is already possible to sign up for it. Thus, the game is taking a step towards release at least in Asia.
We have to wait
What about the beta in our country? Initially, it was said that the beta of A:IR would start here in 2018. However, the developers stated over a year ago that it wouldn’t happen. Now we are at the end of 2019 and the beta has still not begun. There isn’t even a date available.
At the moment, no one can say when we can expect the test phase of the MMORPG. However, it will probably be finally in 2020.
Why are there these delays? Ascent: Infinite Realm is primarily an MMORPG intended for the Asian market. Accordingly, developer Bluehole (TERA) and publisher Kakao Games (Black Desert) are focused on launching A:IR in Asia first.
The previous betas from Korea and Thailand have already generated a lot of feedback which the developers are implementing to improve the game. For example, there was criticism of the targeting system because you couldn’t really aim at enemies. All this feedback and the resulting changes have delayed development.
Progress is being made
What happens next? In Korea, a focus group test is now to take place. Selected testers will play the MMORPG and then talk to the developers. They will also gain new insights into how players experience A:IR by observing.
This focus group test will also bring about changes. The open beta is also planned in even more countries in Asia. So, progress is being made.
What is A:IR? Ascent: Infinite Realm aims to impress with a mix of aerial and ground battles. These confrontations are at the center. However, you also explore a large game world, fight against monsters, and complete quests. You will also need to master solo dungeons.
However, the heart of the game lies in the PvP battles where you engage in fights over the clouds with your own airship, make your way to a base, disembark there, and fight your way on foot to the core of the base to conquer it.
