AION is a F2P MMORPG from NCSoft. It was released in 2008 in South Korea and is known as ‘the game with wings.’ Over the years, it has received a variety of expansions and updates that have continuously raised the level cap and possibilities of Aion. When creation turns against its creator, it always leads to one consequence: murder and bloodshed. This is also the case in the free-to-play MMORPG AION. The Balaur were initially created by the god AION to protect the people of Atreia. However, they saw themselves as more powerful than the humans and more powerful than their creator and declared war. The centuries-long conflict resulted in the planet Atreia being torn in two halves, on which the surviving humans – the Asmodians in the barren north and the Elyos in the paradisiacal south – settled. In the conflict-ridden world of Atreia, players can expect thrilling PvP battles between the races – in the air and on the ground. The online role-playing game features an accommodation system, many quests, instances, and a profession system that is important for the economy. The game’s graphics are still impressive today, thanks to the CryEngine. The fantasy world offers an interesting mix of anime and steampunk.
