The classic barbarian MMORPG Age of Conan finally gets something new. In special, limited-time Saga servers, you can complete special challenges with fresh heroes and earn goodies for your regular heroes.
Long before there was the survival MMO Conan Exiles, the grim barbarian rose once more in an online game! Funcom released Age of Conan back in 2008, a bloody barbarian MMORPG. However, it has been quite silent around Age of Conan for a while now.
The last major content updates were some time ago. In 2013, a new dungeon was added for the region “Dragon’s Spine” introduced in 2012. In 2015, the new raid “Palace of Cetriss” was added.
However, in 2016 Funcom stated that they would not invest any significant work into Age of Conan.
But Age of Conan is not dead yet. Funcom plans to introduce special new “Saga servers” in 2018.
Limited-time servers like seasons in Diablo 3
The first new Saga server for Age of Conan is to be called “Saga of Zath” and is set to go online in early 2018. On the new server, all players start with a fresh character. The server will only be online for a limited time. Meanwhile, you will need to complete specific tasks and challenges. This is reminiscent of the seasons in the action RPG Diablo 3.
Once the server goes offline, your hero will be transferred to the regular server “Crom”. The Saga hero also does not count towards your allowed character maximum. So you can participate even if you have no open slots left. Additionally, you can earn rewards for another Conan hero from your stash during your time on the Saga server.
Will the new server be PvP or PvE?
The developers want to release more information about the servers later. Meanwhile, the community eagerly speculates whether the new server will be a PvP server or a peaceful realm.
After all, the wild brawl on the PvP realms was a great fun for many players at the launch of Age of Conan and fit well with the relentless barbarian world of the setting.
Something is also happening in the other Conan game. Here are the release info and available editions of Conan Exiles for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
