The German opinion blogger Tim “KuchenTV” Heldt has been in a dispute with the Twitch streamer Pia “Shurjoka” Scholz for months. In early December 2023, the 28-year-old received a ban from Twitch. Now, the next platform follows with X.com (formerly Twitter).
What is the ban about? KuchenTV was banned on Twitch on December 8th, 2023, two days after he made statements about the “Gamer of the Year” Shurjoka during a nearly 7-hour stream, such as “the Twitch support doesn’t give a damn about you”.
Shurjoka subsequently called on the video platform YouTube to follow Twitch’s example and also ban the content creator. KuchenTV complained about the ban in several posts on X (formerly Twitter) and announced plans to take legal action against it (via X).
Moreover, he made posts in which he called for a ban for Shurjoka. Instead, his X account was also suspended on December 14th, one week after his Twitch ban.
KuchenTV has not yet commented on the ban
Why was KuchenTV banned? The exact reasons for the ban are currently unknown. On X, there is only a message indicating that accounts will be banned for violating the rules of the messaging service.
Fans of the content creator suspect that Shurjoka and her community may have caused the ban through mass reports of the account. There is no evidence for this theory. However, other users argue that the streamer would have long been banned by now if it were only about mass reports (via X).
Shurjoka herself states on X that she has nothing to do with the ban.
Others suspect sexualized – apparently humorously intended – remarks about minors as a possible reason for the ban (via X)
How does KuchenTV react? The content creator shared a screenshot of the ban notification from X on the morning of December 15th, 2023, in a story on his Instagram account, but did not comment further. It is likely that he plans to challenge the ban, just as he has announced regarding his Twitch suspension.
Can KuchenTV take legal action? The content creator has already reported plans to take legal action against the Twitch ban and could also consider doing so regarding the X suspension. The fellow content creator Theo “Scurrows” Bottländer has already successfully sued his way back to Twitch and TikTok:
