What is currently happening with Apex Legends? The big shooter from EA has been struggling with various issues for a while. The mood in the community is not good, and there’s constant criticism due to decisions and missteps by the developers.
- A hacker compromised players live during a tournament and activated cheats on them.
- The wrong players were paid $100,000 in prize money, while others walked away empty-handed.
- In July, there was an attempt to change the pricing policy of the battle pass, resulting in over 70,000 negative reviews.
- At the start of the last season, the developers accidentally deleted players’ progress in the ranked mode.
These are just incidents from this year. Things are not going well for EA’s big shooter. However, the new season could introduce a mode that might appease some players.

What kind of new mode is this? The developers of Apex Legends have seemingly taken inspiration from the success of the “Fortnite Classic” mode and are now bringing back the original version of Apex Legends into the game with the mode “Original Royale.”
The new mode is supposed to be almost exactly as the shooter was released in 2019. Only the characters available at the launch of Apex Legends will be featured. Only the weapons that existed back then will be available, and all ammunition types used will match what was used back then.
The maps will also take a proper old-school approach. Only the original King’s Canyon map with the locations from that time will be available. The damage dealt by the zone to characters will also be exactly as it was in 2019.
What other changes does the season bring? The new classic mode “Original Royale” is not the only change in Season 23. Apex Legends is also introducing a significant change for Lifeline. The support character has been reworked and can now be played more aggressively.
Her passive ability now allows Lifeline to glide in the air. The support character’s healing drone can now be sent with allied characters to heal them. Her ultimate ability now places a shield around her, protecting the team from all sides. However, one remains vulnerable from above.
