It is official: GTA Online is getting a summer update. Developer Rockstar Games has now revealed the first details about the summer content, and MeinMMO author Maik Schneider cannot stop grinning, especially because of a small change. All new information can be found here on MeinMMO.
As in previous years, GTA Online will also get a summer update in 2022 with new content and some improvements. However, before we get to the new content, I want to highlight one change in particular:
- Sales missions can be started in sessions that are only for invited players after the summer update
Whether we are selling our stolen cars, delivering cocaine to Blaine County, or distributing fake documents – we no longer have to deal with griefers who turn our valuable cargo to ash with two rockets.
While there has always been some way to cheat a little and carry out deliveries without foreign players, after the summer update, we can “legally” bring our illegal goods to their destination without interruption.
Finally, no more stress with annoying griefers during deliveries – unless I feel like engaging in the nerve war in open lobbies.
However, keep in mind that there are extra GTA$ if you complete deliveries on a server with foreign players. How to make money quickly is shown here:
GTA Online Summer Update: Missions, Money, and Oppressor Nerf
When is the summer update coming? There is no exact date yet. The latest community update mentions “in a few weeks.” Based on experiences from previous years, we expect the following release dates:
- July 19 or 20
- July 26 or 27
- August 2 or 3
What content does the summer update offer? Currently, Rockstar is still holding back on details regarding content. However, a few tidbits of information have already been served:
- The aforementioned sales in sessions only with invitations
- Further changes to the MkII Oppressor and countermeasures
- “Criminal Enterprises” will be further deepened
- New contact missions as an IAA agent
- General increase in GTA$ payouts for all activities
- Bodyguards, employees, and MC members will also receive higher “salaries”
- Seasonal events, bonuses, gifts, and more surprises

Currently, the information about the summer update is still sparse, but it could already be an absolute top update. I no longer expected that we would actually get servers where we can carry out deliveries alone.
