Amazon is planning the next big series based on a popular fantasy book series. The adaptation will be “Forth Wing” or “Flame-Kissed” from the “The Empyrean” saga by Rebecca Yarros.
The Amazon MGM Studios secured the rights to the acclaimed fantasy book series by Rebecca Yarros in a bidding war, as Deadline recently reported.
With this, the streaming service is now attempting to adapt another major fantasy epic after “The Rings of Power” and Wheel of Time
.

How successful is the book series? The first book of the saga titled “Fourth Wing” (in German: Fourth Wing – Flammengeküsst) was released on May 2, 2023, and sparked a huge hype around the story. Especially on TikTok, the story went viral.
According to Deadline, millions of book copies have been sold worldwide in over 40 languages, and “Fourth Wing” managed to stay on the New York Times Bestseller List for 25 weeks—13 of those at number 1.
But not only for the already published part, but also for all planned books, Amazon has secured the rights.
After Fourth Wing, four more volumes by the author are set to follow. The second part titled “Iron Flame” will be released on November 7, 2023; in Germany, the book will be available from December 1, 2023.
As Deadline suggests, each individual volume could get its own series project, provided the adaptation of Forth Wing is a success. Initially, however, Amazon will focus on the first part.
