Once again back in the Shadowlands in World of Warcraft. Sounds like a nightmare? A part of the community would be pleased.
Legion Remix is currently the talk of the town in World of Warcraft and can be considered a resounding success, as most players are currently engaged in this game mode. On some realms, Dornogal, the actual capital of the expansion The War Within, is nearly deserted. However, although Legion Remix is set to run for almost 100 more days, some fans are already speculating about the “after” and jokingly suggest that a “Shadowlands Remix” could be next.
But what some scoff at is welcomed by many in the community. Because the more one thinks about it, the more one realizes: The idea is quite good.
What has been discussed? In the WoW subreddit, user evasketch submitted a meme with the Shadowlands logo – with the “Remix” addition. Obviously, this is meant ironically, as Shadowlands is considered the worst expansion of World of Warcraft.
But what started as an obvious meme quickly gained support from some people who seriously believed: Shadowlands would be perfect for a remix variant.
Why is Shadowlands suitable for a remix? The reasons why Shadowlands is not so bad as a possible remix variant are numerous:
- Shadowlands features extremely popular sets and some of the best transmog options ever seen in World of Warcraft.
- Torghast is the perfect remix content when filled with cosmetic items.
- The problems with Shadowlands primarily lay in the story, design missteps (forcing players to choose specific covenants), and the long pauses between patches. These are all issues that would not repeat in a remix variant.

- “Shadowlands Remix would be a great idea, no matter how much we turn the idea into a meme. Dungeons and raids were fun, and there were a lot of transmogs and mounts. Can you imagine a remix that gives you all the Torghast powers stacking infinitely? That would be awesome.” – JetUlric
- “You might be joking about this, but I would play Shadowlands Remix non-stop. Shadowlands without all the bad systems – I would be all in.” – Z-L-Y-N-N-T
Cortyn says: Honestly, I can hardly imagine anything more fun than endlessly running through Torghast and getting showered with bronze, which I can then spend on cosmetic rewards. The gameplay of Torghast has always been fun, the only problem was the weekly obligation. Once that obligation is removed and Torghast is just a pastime for cosmetics, the tower would likely be a huge success.
Therefore, I am also open to a remix version of Shadowlands and would wish that it actually comes our way in a few years. Because if you reduce Shadowlands only to what was really fun, Shadowlands Remix could be a success – no matter how dismissive one may currently feel about it.
Until that day comes, we can enjoy another part of Shadowlands that is returning soon.
