A developer at 4A Games recently warned that the next installment of Metro might not be released on PC. However, this warning has now been dismissed by the publisher.
What’s new: The publisher of Metro Exodus confirmed that PC development remains an important part of the franchise’s future. The news comes after a developer from 4A Games warned players that future Metro games would not be released on PC if players boycotted the upcoming release on the Epic Games Store.
Publisher Deep Silver stated that the words of a single developer do not reflect the views of the publisher and the entire development studio. On Twitter, the Metro Exodus account wrote:
The recent decision to move Metro Exodus from Steam to the Epic Game Store was made solely by Koch Media and Deep Silver.
The recent comments made by a member of the 4A Games development team do not reflect the views of Deep Silver or 4A Games regarding the future of the franchise. They express the pain and disappointment of a passionate person who has only seen positive goodwill towards their work, which has now turned into controversy due to a business decision over which they had no influence.
Therefore, we ask that all feedback regarding this decision be directed to Koch Media and Deep Silver, and not to the developers at 4A Games.
Regarding this statement, it was clarified that they have teamed up with Epic Games to invest in the future of the series and the developers at 4A Games. They intend to continue the franchise, and a PC version would always be at the core of their plans.
What happened? Over the weekend, there was excitement about Metro Exodus. This is a new installment in the Metro series that was originally planned for a Steam release. However, the plans were abruptly changed, so Metro Exodus will be released exclusively on the Epic Games Store and not on Steam.
The fans were angry, giving the other Metro installments poor ratings on Steam, review-bombing. A call followed to boycott Metro Exodus.
In the Russian Gameinator forum, one of the developers posted a warning message. It stated that if players do not buy Metro Exodus on the Epic Store, the next Metro game might not come to PC at all.
Metro Exodus will be released on February 15, 2019, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
