The YouTube group Rocket Beans is currently undergoing an internal, lawyer-assisted process with co-founder Simon to discuss his future with the team.
Who is Simon? Simon Krätschmer is an influencer and moderator. Together with Etienne Gardé, Daniel Budiman, Arno Heinisch, and Nils Bomhoff, he founded Rocket Beans Entertainment GmbH in 2011. The YouTube channel excited the community with gaming content, some of which was also moderated by Simon.
What do the Rocket Beans say? They are currently in an “internal process” to decide Simon’s future with the team. The goal of these discussions is to bring about change. The statement published on the Rocket Beans website reads very vaguely. The reason for this is the legal assistance in the discussions.
The whole process was not triggered by a single situation, but resulted from long-term developments. The discussions also explain why Simon was not part of the Rocket Beans shows and their appearance at Gamescom 2025.
However, the Rocket Beans do not want to discuss how the situation arose and how the discussions are proceeding publicly, not only for legal reasons. According to them, they want to primarily “protect the privacy of all those involved and not air our conflicts in public”.
At the end of the brief statement, they also emphasize that co-founder Simon is an important part of the history of the Rocket Beans and they regret the development.
Not the first public statement
As early as March 2024, managing director Heiko Gogolin commented on Simon’s past behavior in the Rocket Beans forum and announced Simon’s return to Rocket Beans TV at that time. At that time, they had also sought talks with Simon, who apologized to the community via Heiko Gogolin:
Some statements I made on Twitter last year to Rocket Beans were absolutely incorrect. I am aware that I can sometimes get triggered quickly. I realize this in hindsight and I am sincerely sorry for it. I definitely want to improve on this and will continue to work on myself so that this does not happen again.
On X, Simon previously made some hurtful statements towards Rocket Beans. He stated that his brand was MON and that he “didn’t care about anything else” (Source: Reddit). However, he later retracted this statement and also apologized in the Rocket Beans forum.
Simon Criticized by the Community
What has Simon been in the spotlight for recently? In recent months, Simon has primarily faced backlash from his own community. In April, Simon revealed on his YouTube channel in a video that he is in financial trouble.
The reason for this is high tax demands from previous years when he earned a lot of money. His income has since decreased significantly, and much of his money is tied up in investments like crypto or stocks. He is reluctant to sell and asked his community for support by purchasing merchandise, for example.
This did not go down well with the community, and critical voices emerged that found his behavior unsympathetic or brazen.
Simon’s reaction to it did not improve the situation in the eyes of the community. He released an ironic song with a music video in which he sang about shitstorms. Many voices from the community saw this more as a victim’s portrayal rather than actual self-reflection.
After the end of the show Game Two, Simon tried his own gaming show: GAME MON. However, the pilot episode did not go down well on YouTube.
