Sony released a video where the PS5 was upside down. But now some users are wondering if their PS5 is positioned incorrectly.
The design of the PlayStation 5 seems to unsettle many users even months after the release. Because the design of the PlayStation 5 allows you to position the console in different ways:
- You can either set it up vertically, and then it stands like a tower in your cabinet or on your table.
- The second option is to set the console up horizontally. For this, you need to mount the included round stand on one side of the PS5.
So far, many users have assumed that the console should be positioned so that the disc drive is at the bottom when standing. But now some users are confused again.
In a short advertisement that Sony released, the PlayStation 5 could be seen in the TV cabinet. But it is upside down, which is typically recognized by the fact that the drive is on the top.
Sony quickly removed the advertisement without comment, but now many users are asking: Maybe we have always placed our console upside down?

Some users on Twitter or Reddit reacted astonished and questioned whether the console in the ad might have been positioned correctly after all (via reddit.com):

Some point out that it is intuitive to position the drive upwards instead of downwards (via reddit.com). This way, it is much easier to access the drive.
While some users argue that the drive must be at the bottom of the lying PS5, there are concerns from users who own a Digital Edition. Because here you cannot align the PlayStation with the drive.
PS5 Design continues to confuse users months after release
Some users on Reddit have indeed confirmed that the design of the PlayStation 5 is confusing. User TM674329 explains (via reddit.com) that it took him an hour to position his PS5 correctly:
I spent an hour on my first night with my PS5 figuring out why it wouldn’t read discs. Thanks to Reddit, I learned that it was upside down and I’m very dumb.
Some even speculate that the advertisement must be an insider from Sony: Because the very first PlayStation often overheated and shut down. But if you placed the original PlayStation upside down, there were no issues at all (via reddit.com).

A few months ago, PlayStation chief Hermen Hulst made headlines for positioning his PS5 upside down as well. Here, too, some users amused themselves that the PS5’s design must be so confusing that not even the official staff knows how to position the PS5 accurately.
Speculation arose here too about whether Hulst had intentionally positioned his PS5 incorrectly to see if anyone noticed it, or whether Sony was experimenting with the PlayStation 5. Hulst quickly deleted the post on Twitter.
