In Helldivers 2, the robots are back with an even greater force and are now attacking a specific planet.
What are the robots back from? From the supposed eradication. Last weekend, the Helldivers fought in “Operation Rapid Destruction” for the eradication of the robots. This order was successfully executed by the forces of Over-Earth on April 7, and the robots seemed to be fully eradicated for a brief moment.
What is happening right now in Helldivers 2? Just one day after the supposed eradication, the robots are back with an invasion fleet – stronger than before. While the previous army was merely a vanguard, the current attack is said to involve the “true might of the robots.”
To defend against the new, massive army of robots, there is a new general order for all Helldivers:
- You must successfully defend at least 5 planets, and you have three days to do so. As a reward, you can earn 45 medals as usual.
The 5 planets you need to defend are in the Hydra and Lacaille sectors: Menkent, Lesath, Penta, Chort Bay, and Choohe. Additionally, there is a new mission type called “Evacuate Important Goods,” where you need to defend a position for 20 minutes while goods are being evacuated.
Just in time for the renewed robot attack, the new war bond “Democratic Detonation” will be released on April 11. Here you can see the trailer:
Do the robots have a specific planet in sight?
What is the goal of the robots? The new army of automatons has attacked the Valdis sector and quickly overran Cyberstan and the surrounding planets.
Cyberstan was known in Helldivers 1 as the home planet of the cyborgs. The cyborgs were a hostile faction made up of former humans who led a rebellion against Over-Earth and were obsessed with the cybernetic augmentation of their bodies.
The cyborgs also had various fighters in their ranks in Helldivers 1, reminiscent of the robots:
- The Immolator was armored and equipped with a flamethrower.
- The Berserker had heavy armor and saw blades as melee weapons.
- Hulks are also heavily armored, are dropped by landing ships, and have a Gatling gun.
In February, a player of Helldivers 2 already theorized that the cyborgs created the robots and consider themselves their “masters.” The player suspected that the robots want to ally with their masters on Cyberstan and go to war against Over-Earth together.
