Many players of World of Warcraft have complained and Blizzard reacted immediately. There should be more world quests. But that probably won’t happen.
World of Warcraft Dragonflight launched about a week ago and many heroes are still on their way to level 70, while others are already feeling it isn’t fast enough. They are rushing through the content and are now looking for the “usual” activities. However, world quests are scarce – therefore, Blizzard intervenes and changes some things.
What’s up with world quests? World quests have been significantly easier to manage in Dragonflight so far. They are not only shorter, but there are also significantly fewer of them active at the same time. Only a handful is active per area and that for 3.5 days. New world quests only appear twice a week, so after one evening you might not have any available for a while.
What was Blizzard thinking? With the upcoming weekly reset – on December 7, 2022 – Blizzard wanted to change the timer for world quests. Instead of being updated every 3.5 days, it was supposed to happen daily. So you would have seen significantly more world quests per week, but they would only last 24 hours instead of several days like before.
However, just five hours after the initial announcement, Blizzard immediately backtracked. They discarded the plans and maintained the 3.5-day rotation. Feedback, player concerns, and internal discussions had contributed to them reversing this change at short notice.
What does the community say about this: The community is divided. Some players were initially looking forward to the changes and were then bitterly disappointed that there are no longer world quests.
Others, however, appreciate that Blizzard can quickly respond to feedback and reconsider decisions when they do not sit well with the community. Some opinions from the comments in the WoW forums:
- “I am quitting WoW. You gave me hope and then took it away, both in one day. I have no more trust in Blizzard.”
- “It must have been an April Fool’s joke.”
- “Good decision, keep collecting those wins, thank you for listening to us.”
- “Thank you SO MUCH! I’m relieved that you reversed the decision. The bi-weekly world quest design is fantastic and should stay.”
What do you think about the lack of changes to world quests? Would it be good to have more to do every day? Or are you afraid that this will bring back the “Daily Grind”?
