The quirkiest game on Steam has become even stranger – because after just one day it has disappeared.
It was a very short pleasure and actually an even shorter anticipation. Because only yesterday we reported about it, that a developer tried to connect the most boring thing in the world (taxes) with the most enjoyable thing in the world (anime waifus). The visual novel “Tax Heaven 3000,” which could actually fill out the tax return for Americans, has vanished.
What kind of game was that? Tax Heaven 3000 aimed to dress up the worries and unpleasant feelings associated with tax returns in a cute visual novel corset. While revealing data such as one’s social security number and income to the anime lady Iris, she opens up more and more and develops romantic feelings – essentially a typical “dating game,” which would have created a ready-to-submit tax return in the end.
Why was the game removed? That is the big question that has not even been answered by the developers of Tax Heaven 3000. In response to inquiries from colleagues at PCGamer, co-founder of the studio said:
Honestly, we have no information either. Tax Heaven 3000 went through the standard verification process and was ready to go online on April 4, but now it has been spontaneously unverified and removed from the platform. That’s all we know.
Since the developers have no information on why the game vanished from the platform, they are also making no efforts to bring it back to Steam.
Can you still play the game? Yes, it will be possible. Starting April 4, you can download the game directly from the Tax Heaven 3000 website, although it should be noted that playing without US tax system data could be somewhat difficult – because Iris is very interested in your tax details. So one has to get a bit creative as an EU citizen and come up with something.
But at least all disappointed visual novel tax fans can also find solace in other ways, because – as should be expected – there is of course also a body pillow (Dakimakura) of Iris. Then you have your personal tax advisor always close to you in bed.
Sometimes you just have to love the crazy world of visual novels.
