Hearthstone will drastically reduce its costs for players. A crucial change ensures that you will soon have the cards you want faster.
If there has been a major criticism of Hearthstone in recent years, it has been the costs. Many players simply could and did not want to keep up anymore. Buying 60 or 80 card packs every few months to play the current meta decks was simply too expensive for a game that most played more “casually”. Blizzard has apparently heard and understood this criticism, as they are introducing a significant change:
With the launch of the next expansion, there will be no cards from card packs that the player already has in duplicate in their collection. This applies to all rarity levels. Previously, this only applied to legendary cards.
This change was discussed yesterday in a major livestream about the innovations of Hearthstone in 2020.
What does this mean? In plain language, this means that players will likely not see any card three times in the first 20 packs.
Only when all cards of a rarity (for example, “common”) are present in duplicate can that card appear in packs again.
The result will be that players will own a significantly larger number of different cards and thus acquire all cards from an expansion much earlier.
Only with epic and legendary cards will it still take a while to see them all due to their rarity.
But there is also criticism: Especially the last point gives cause for concern. While it is true that with the new method, the common (white) and rare (blue) cards will be relatively quickly acquired, the problem remains with the epic and legendary cards, which will still take a long time to obtain. Here, players are still hoping for something like a “season pass” that allows them to simply receive all cards.
With the start of the next expansion, there will also be the new class of Demon Hunters – here are all leaked cards.
Free deck for beginners and returnees
The announcement in the livestream also brought more innovations. In the future, there will be a free deck that is also suitable for competitive mode – free for all new players or those returning after a long time.
What decks are available? There are decks of all 9 original classes with current cards from the Year of the Dragon (i.e., the last 3 expansions). You can choose a deck – the cards will then permanently belong to you.
What are the requirements? In order to receive the free deck, you must be a new player in Hearthstone or a returnee. A returnee is considered someone who has not logged into the game in the last 4 months. All active players cannot benefit from this free deck.
To receive the deck, new players must play until they have moved beyond the beginner ranks. Returnees receive this deck immediately after logging in.
- Priests are currently rejoicing as well – because Priests are getting 6 new cards and a significant rework.
