In Pokémon GO there are major changes to the coin system again! The tests regarding the new system are coming to an end and the old system will be reactivated in Germany.
This is the change: From November 5th at 11:59 PM local time, the tests regarding the coin system will end. All countries that participated in the tests, including Germany, will return to the old coin system.
This decision is being implemented due to the feedback from the trainers, says Niantic. There has been continuous criticism of the new system, as initially, one even had to participate in raids to earn coins.
Returning to the old coin system – But why?
This is how it continues: From November 6th, you can earn your coins again in the old ways. You will only receive 50 coins if you have sat in the arenas for about 8 hours. In other ways, such as solving quests, there will no longer be any coins.
Why is this change happening? Niantic cites trainer feedback as the reason. However, they do not elaborate further.
The criticism was quite loud. Especially at the beginning, one had to do significantly more to get the same amount of coins.
One had to sit in arenas and also solve tasks that were quite tricky. Over time, there were minor adjustments. The task “Win a raid”, which was needed on some days to earn your 20 coins from the quests, was removed.
This was the mood now: After the raid quests were removed, the mood around the system had significantly improved. Therefore, there are now some comments on reddit that believe that this change was no longer necessary.
max_mullen writes on reddit: “‘Based on trainer feedback’, which trainer feedback? After they removed the task “Win a raid” (or made it very rare), all the feedback I read was super positive. I understand if it’s because they are earning less money, but then they shouldn’t say it’s based on trainer feedback.”
Now Niantic has pulled the emergency brake and after a few months canceled the tests. However, they also stated that they are still working on solutions to change the coin system. We can therefore expect another test run soon.
Finally, there has also been criticism of the new eggs in Pokémon GO. They don’t seem to be any better:
The big egg overhaul in Pokémon GO did not make the eggs any better
