Rockstar has announced a major update for Red Dead Online – the first major content update of 2020. After players have had to wait seven months for new content for the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2, the next update is packed with features.
This is what Rockstar says: In a blog post, Rockstar announced that Red Dead Online will receive a new update. This was introduced alongside the new major update for GTA V Online.
The upcoming update is the first major expansion of content since December 2019, which means it has been seven months. At that time, the new role Moonshiner was introduced along with a new Outlaw Pass, a revolver, and cosmetics.
The fact that nothing has happened since then has apparently annoyed players quite a bit. So much so that they protested in the game itself by dressing up as clowns (via PC Gamer). The clowns have been engaged in brawls in saloons or causing mayhem in towns.
New Role and More Content
What’s included in the update: Rockstar is not revealing too much information about the upcoming content yet. Only a few key points are already known:
- a new role
- a new Outlaw Pass
- lots of content requested by the community
Additionally, “much more to play and discover in the coming months” is said to be released. Therefore, it seems that the contents of the upcoming update will not be the only ones that Red Dead Online will receive in 2020.
The new role is supposed to lead you into the “secrets of naturalism” and an attached image shows a hunter with a rifle and fur hat, who is currently stalking a moose (see title image). Rockstar also shows the image of a young jaguar – also a popular prey.
It is quite possible that the new role will be some sort of trapper, as they are known to be iconic in the Wild West. The role would fit well with the merchants introduced in September 2019, since looted furs and trophies need to be sold somehow.
When will the update come? Rockstar has already confirmed the release of the update for the upcoming Tuesday, July 28, 2020. So there are only a few days left until you can dive into the content with a new role.
